Lucky Episode 7 – Diana Butler Bass

Diana Butler Bass.jpgOur guest this week will be Diana Butler Bass, author of a whole bunch of books.  Her latest release is A People’s History of Christianity: The Other Side of the Story. You know how people say, “I want to be a part of a church, but I just can’t get over all of the terrible things that religion has done”? And you try to explain all of the really wonderful things that the church has done-how Christianity has often been on the forefront of so many movements of justice. Well… now you can add a book to your conversation. Diana clearly points out the strong rivers of of vitality, life and justice that have been flowing through our faith since its inception.

Music will be provided by The Church of the Beloved, with songs from “Hope for a Tree Cut Down”.

Join us for the show on Monday at noon EDT, 9am PDT.

Missed the live show but heard it a couple hours later. Really interesting conversation. So glad you had Diana Butler Bass describe a bit about her background and then your questions and her answers gave the listeners some interesting insights into the book and its writing – e.g. description of culture of hospitality in Roman times and story of Samuel Green in the 19th century. Looking forward to next week’s show.

Yeah, I thought it was fascinating.
I was thinking of all of the ways that we could practice hospitality in our lives: immigration, handicap accessibility.
We live in a culture that is so averse to hospitality that it’s seen as bad when parents welcome their son or daughter to live when then when he/she is facing tough economic times.
Thank you so much for listening. I really appreciate it.

See this blog here? It's like we're having a party, and everyone wants to have a good time at a party, right? It's cool if you want to be critical, but if you're rude, well...then you won't get to party any more. And that would suck. So don't be rude.
